Transform Your Cessna 182
into a Five-Occupant Aircraft
FAA STC No.: SA02784SE
Aircraft Compatibility: Cessna 182 Models 182F – 182Q (excluding the 1980 model)
Product Overview
This Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) allows for the installation of a third seat belt in the center of the rear bench seat of your Cessna 182, converting it into a five-occupant aircraft. With this upgrade, you can safely accommodate up to three children in the back seat.
- Aircraft Models: Cessna 182 (models 182F - 182Q, excluding the 1980 model)
- Additional Seating: Provides seating for three children on the rear bench seat
- STC Certification: FAA-approved, ensuring compliance with safety standards
Weight Limitations
While adding a third occupant, the STC enforces weight restrictions to ensure safety and performance:
- Center Seat Maximum Weight: 100 lbs.
- Outboard Seats Maximum Weight (each): 120 lbs.
These limitations apply only when the third seat position is occupied. The original two-seat configuration remains unchanged for standard use.
Installation Process
The installation is straightforward and can be completed in approximately two hours by an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic with Inspection Authorization (IA). The process includes:
- Modifying the hardware for attaching the center seat belt.
- Installing a Weight Limitation Placard on the back of the pilot seat.
- Proper positioning of the seat belt ends for correct load transfer into the aircraft structure.
